Demystifying Craniosacral Therapy and Energy Healing
This month I would like to share a bit about the work I do here at Antidote Wellness Lab, since it is not a very well known type of healing therapy. Even though I call it craniosacral therapy, I draw on many other techniques and philosophies, ranging from cutting edge quantum science to various psychotherapeutic tools and approaches to more old world traditional healing techniques. But before I get carried away I want to focus on one key ingredient that makes this work a little different from most other physical therapies, and that is the act of listening. Most of us know how to listen with our ears, but as far as our listening and sensing abilities go, that is barely the tip of the iceberg.
When I engage in a craniosacral treatment with a client, I allow myself to temporarily suspend my own human agency and to become still, connecting to the eternal moment. We usually call this meditation, or a trance-like state. Through this surrender I am able to listen to my client’s energy field. Electromagnetic fields are one of 3 layers of interrelated levels of macromolecular energy-information relay systems in the human body. It’s the deepest layer of the energy body generated by the nervous system and functions in the service of awakening consciousness [1]. It holds all of the effects and distortions caused by the client’s own unique experiences, and is based on a blueprint of sorts that makes up the client’s own unique and authentic frequency. By tuning into this, or listening to and observing it, the client is then able to release whatever they are ready to let go of. I don’t force this in any way. This is how the client heals, according to their own inner wisdom. I support this process from a place of unconditional love and acceptance.
I use my hands for sensing the electromagnetic waves that surround the body, they essentially become antennae [2]. By surrendering my own agency I am able to listen on a level that allows me to experience in my own body what is going on in my client, like an echo or mirror. For example, a brief pain signal draws my attention to a certain part of the body, or my eyes are drawn to an area. When in this receptive open state, vision is also different, more fluid and colorful. I don’t always use physical touch to listen to the body, the electromagnetic field that surrounds the body is often so strong and clear that I am able to read its signals from 2cm to 2m away. When I work directly with the body, unlike massage and other physical therapists, I avoid manipulating body tissues other than to encourage them to release stuck energy. This is done by waiting for the tissues to show me what they hold, whether it is traumatic experiences or sports related movements, rhythms and repetitive strains or unprocessed emotional content.
When we are caught up in the flow of life we can forget that it is in the pauses, the moments when we allow ourselves to become still, that healing happens.
In my treatments I support the client to find that stillness and surrender to the eternal moment, where we are able to experience our inner truth and peace, and our ability to love and accept ourselves unconditionally. I cannot make any promises as to what the outcome may be, but I have personally witnessed many amazing shifts in health and well being, and feel confident to say that anything is possible.
